THAI co-founded the Star Alliance, the world's largest global airline partnership, in 1997 with other 4 airlines: Air Canada, Lufthansa, SAS and United Airlines. Later joined by Varig in 1997, Ansett Australia, Air New Zealand and ANA in 1999, Austrian Airlines, Lauda Air, Tyrolean Airways and Singapore Airlines, Maxicana Airlines, British Midland in 2000; the Star Alliance network provides cargo shippers with an integrated worldwide routenet covering over 815 destinations in 130 countries. Star Alliance has created the world's largest and most comprehensive coordinated air cargo operation.
