The budget of 3,800 million baht is used for the construction of a 22-meter high warehouse with an area of 90,000 square meters. This ware-house offers the largest available area compared to any one-storey warehouse in this region, offering storage area for all kinds of commodities ranging from general goods, heavy goods, dangerous goods and valuable goods to live animals, and mails. Experienced staff is hired to take care of each commodity. The warehouse is able to accommodate more than 1.2 million tons of good per annum, with investment of 1,200 million baht allocated for system and equipment, and 250 million baht for Information Technology in order to maintain the position as leader in this business for 50 years. With over 65 per cent market share, Cargo and Mail Commercial provides services for over 70 partner and customer airlines, transferring some 900,000 tons of commodities for over 50,000 flights per annum.

THAI’s Cargo and Mail Commercial offers both domestic and international warehouses which are built on an area of 18,000 square meters and 90,000 square meters in order. Both warehouses are fully equipped to provide complete services to all customers such as Perishable Center, express cargo area, and mail handling warehouse. Covering an area of 10,000 square meters, the perishable center is the one and only center in Asia to offer the largest temperature controlled area where each section can be adjusted according to the type of commodity especially to maintain freshness of agricultural products prior to transportation. A computerized Elevated Transfer Vehicle system allows commodities to be transferred both at horizontal and vertical level which is the most essential area for air transportation system. In addition, Unit Load Devices (ULDs) would be installed within the warehouse to promote safety during transportation and Roller Conveyor system to facilitate transport of large-size commodities. The system enables THAI to accommodate the transfer of already packed commodities in loader of each unit forwarded by import-export operators to aircraft.

In order to ensure the highest standard of safety and security, other than 12 standard x-ray machines, two special pallet-size X-ray machines are installed. It has a tunnel-like shape with 3.0 meters in height, 3.6 meters wide so that the each pallet on roller conveyor can be screened. There are various programs made available for checking a range of commodities, and digital zoom to define the depth of checking process at different level in greater detail which can also be done through metal of two centimeters’ thick.
